Young at Art Studios’ March News!

Hello Young at Art family,

I am so excited! We have so much coming up in the next few months. I love working in all my locations. I have a wonderful staff of happy, hardworking artists that I enjoy working with.  And the artwork out of all my studios is looking great!  I hope you are as ready for the Annual Art Show and Contest as I am!

For the Art Show this year, I’ve arranged to have all the artwork displayed in public at the Moorpark Arts Festival. We will be part of this celebration of the arts featuring local artists.  The festival is held at the Moorpark Civic Center on Sunday, May 4th from 11:00am to 4:00pm and admission is free. There are activities for the whole family so bring everyone and enjoy a day out in the city of Moorpark.  For more information on the festival visit www.moorparkartsfestival.com/. I’ve included the entry/information form in this email, and you can download it from our website or pick it up in your studio.

My teen and adult classes in Camarillo and Moorpark are filled to the brim with creative teens and adults working on their favorite subjects and portfolios for college.  Congrats to Alyson Weinberg, the inspiration for these classes, on her acceptance to the Otis College of Art and Design. She will be studying fashion design to become one of the world next top fashion designers. Good luck, Alyson! We’re thrilled we were a part of the making of a star. Please keep us in the loop. You can read Alyson’s testimonial regarding her experiences on our web site.

Summer

We have a completely NEW summer schedule with Camp Arts and new painting and drawing workshops.  You can pick up a brochure at your studio or print the pdf on our website.

Instructors:

We have a new face joining the Young at Art Family. Her name is Mandy Molina and she is working on her Fine Arts Degree from The Academy of Art University. Her desire is to be a high school Art teacher.  She is an incredible artist with a kind and gentle nature. We are excited to have Mandy aboard.

This months Featured instructor:

Sonia Agredano: Sonia began doing what she loves most at a very young age. Around third or fourth grade she received some formal art training but she's mostly a self-taught artist.

Throughout her childhood and teen years, she entered many art competitions and received several awards.

After graduating high school, she attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles. She studied fashion and design, and although she greatly appreciates the education she received, fashion did not end up being her passion.

Throughout the years she has continued to build on her abilities as an artist. She traveled throughout Spain and had her own mural/faux finishing business.

After many years of working "whatever job pays the bills", she says working at Young at Art Studios has been the most fulfilling job she's ever had. Being given the opportunity to teach these great kids, and seeing the excitement in their eyes when they learn something new is exactly what she's been waiting for.

Sonia is showing her work, mostly pencil drawings and acrylic paintings of her favorite theme (mermaids), at Think Space in Silver Lake and with The San Fernando Valley Art Club at Something Fishy on Ventura Boulevard in Woodland Hills, CA.

"I love working at Young at Art Studios. The kids are smart, talented and fun. I know I’m in a place where I belong...where I can do some good."
