The National PTA Reflections Program Winners
January 27, 2006

The 12th District Parent Teacher Association’s “Reflections” program presented awards to winning entries at the end of January 2006. Among many talented winners were Breanna Scranton, Jessica Gonzales, Katie Woerner, Katelyn Godfrey, Sasha Yan, and Laura Traffenstedt, all students of Young at Art Studios, Moorpark. Breanna swept away the Award of Excellence in Visual Arts, Grades K-2. Her painting, “I wonder why there have been so many natural disasters?”, depicts red flames, black burnt trees and smoke. Her inspiration came from the Topanga fires that occurred last fall.

Laura, Katelyn, and Jessica recieved Commendations for their work. And Katie revieved an award of Merit. Congratulations to all the winners!

The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves through the arts and receive positive recognition for their artistic efforts.

The goal is to celebrate the gifts and talents of all students and to give those who have never tried a chance to experiment and explore their creativity.

The National PTA Reflections Program was started in 1969. This year 3,293 entries were submitted district-wide. Next year's theme is "My Favorite Place".
