Elois received her Bachelors Degree in Fine Art from Pacific Northwest College of Art in Portland, Oregon, with a major in Illustration. After graduation from Pacific Northwest College of Art, Elois came to California to work as a freelance illustrator. Her work was published in the Toastmaster, Highways, RV Business, BBW, Ventura County Star, and many other publications. Along with her thriving illustration business, showing in galleries and doing commissions, Elois began teaching and loved it. Out of that love came Young at Art, founded in 1992.
Elois enjoys being active in the community. She was president 2000-2002 of the Conejo Valley Arabian Horse Breeders Association and a member since 1997. In 2000-2001 Elois was a board member of the Pleasant Valley Education Foundation, and a member of the Westlake Artist Guild and Ventura County Entrepreneur Society. During 1994-1995 she was President of the Conejo Valley Entrepreneur Association and in 1997 on the board of the Camarillo Art Center. "I love teaching and believe that anyone can draw if they have the desire. My biggest challenge is to create ways for everyone to understand drawing and feel at ease doing it. Over the years I have seen many children and adults excel at something that is considered to be only for the 'talented'. Because I believe everyone is creative in some way, I look for ways to develop those hidden talents, creativity gives a great deal of confidence and self-pride that helps us to be successful in life. My goal is to help the next generation to not say the words 'I can't draw' or 'I am not talented'." |
